The Land of Oz is a theme park in the resort town of Beech Mountain, North Carolina, USA.In 1970 it opened as a theme park based on the L. Frank Baum Wizard of Oz books by Carolina Caribbean Corporation under the guidance of Grover Robbins, who had been successful with Tweetsie Railroad, and designed by Jack Pentes.It was fully operational until 1980.
Two wayfarers wander aimlessly through the dusty, post-apocalyptic Kansas landscape until Leif finds a copy of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Interpreting the book as gospel, Leif allows the book to challenge the beliefs, friendship and even the very survival of these two divergent travelers. As their world begins to mirror both the magic and horror of Oz, Leif begins to believe Oz truly is real.
